direct x installation

i am new in pc building and gaming. i have a gtx 1050 and it supports dx12. currently i am having direct x 9. so do i need to install 10 or 11 or 12. and if i Install 12. then will it cause any issue? and will i be able to play games with directx 10 and 11.

It depends on which windows you install.
W7 = Dx9
W8/8.1 = Dx11
W10 = Dx12.
Dx12 is compatible with other two and Dx11 only with Dx9.
You don't have to install any of them separately as they come with windows. So if you wan't to use it in Dx12 mode with games that do support Dx12, you must install W10.

That means you have Dx11 with compatibility with Dx9, if you want Dx12 you would have to install W10.
