Hello, I've searched avidly for the answer to this here and on the net, but have been unsuccessful. I seem to be getting lag when I run Directx 12 enabled games. When I switch it off in options, everything is fine. But the moment I turn it on (have tried on 2 Directx 12 Games) it drops to 13-16 FPS. My system should (in theory) be able to handle it. I'm running two 980's in SLI (properly configured with Inspector) with a Core I7 from last year. Any help would be appreciated! I've tried disabling vsync as someone in another post recommended, but that had no effect either. Thanks in advance. -Sarah

Solution
Most games these days give the same experience whether you use DX12 or DX11. Given the new nature of DX12, it usually gives worse overall performance. Especially for pre Pascal Nvidia cards. On top of that, DX12 puts the work of making SLI function on the dev's, and not Nvidia. DX11 allows Nvidia to fix SLI compatibility. As a result, DX11 will almost always be best off for you.

DirectX 12 isn't designed to make your games run smoother. It's made for having better graphics in game.
Are your drivers up to date ? Get GeForce experience to update them.
