Directx upgrades

I need to install a direct X version later than 6.x on my
kid's computer that is not web-enabled (no modem or
internet connection). I had a bad game CD that installed
6.1 (or 6.3 ?), but it is corrupted, cannot uninstall, and
need a newer version from somewhere I can burn onto CD,
and overwrite the existing screwed up installation. Can
anyone tell me where to find, say, v. 8.1 complete setup
files I can get on or onto to a CD? I would really
appreciate help, as so many games need this to run. Thanks!

I think I found my answer 8 pages back, from a June 23rd
question, if the "complete" 9.0b download link is what I
hope it is (35 Mb)!
