Hi guys/girls,
i have a Gigabyte GTX 460 super overclock edition which has a faulty temp sensor. It reads 75C when the actual temp is around 35C (measured with thermometer). The thing is that i cant stress the gpu cause the temp sensor will read high temperature and my pc will shut down so i am left with a useless graphics card. Is there any way to disable auto-shutdown? To spare you the time of saying that disabling the auto-shutdown feature is a mistake cause it could fry my system or something, im telling you that i'm aware of this and i know that my cpu temps do not go that high even in full stress, and neither does my gpu i have good case cooling plus i clean the insides of my pc once a month appox.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

No way I know of to do what you want. It is a feature of the bios. I guess you could try to mod the bios but chances are you would just brick the card.
There is a 3 year warranty, send it back for replacement. Gigabyte has a swap service where you buy a new one with a credit card, they send and when they get the defective one they issue a credit back. This way you are not system down.

Check the local warranty conditions, you may yet be able to get an RMA.
Also try a nice, friendly E-mail to their support people, they may be understanding-nothing ventured, nothing gained.
At the risk of incurring the wrath of the rest of the community I'll also suggest you try posting on other forums as well, after all, the more people involved, the more likely it is you'll get a successful resolution of the problem. Techpowerup and Guru3d also seem to have their share of gurus keen to help fellow PC users.
I don't think it's possible to replace the sensor and a BIOS edit needs some very specialised knowledge the only other option I can think of is a watercooling loop to drag the temperatures down below the shutdown point, but that may very well be more expensive than a replacement card.
