First things first, hello i'm new on this forum so i'm going to say hello to all of you :)

My question:

Is it possible to disable background services/programs with w2k without using taskmanagar?
I used to do this, running w98 via system manager but i can't find a similar option using w2k....

Tnx in advance

Go under 'administrative tools', 'services'.
You'll have to disable/stop the services you want to. Be careful, as a few are necessary just to get on the net, access your floppy/cdrom drive, login....etc.....

i e-mailed you a program called startup.exe (88kb). you can use this program to disable programs from loading on startup like you would using msconfig in win9x. i think this is what you are looking for

Tnx very much m8 but i didn't get it 🙁
maybe you can try it again on this e-mail adres: m.bak@wgms.nl

You can go to download.com and pick up a copy of x-setup 5.7. It will give you the same options (with startup programs), plus a few more tweaks to go along with it.

oh yea, if anyones curious, it is NOT possible to delete administrative tools in win2k, norton cleansweap tried to do that and i got an error, hehe thought it was funny
