Disable Wi-Fi from ISP router and enable Wi-Fi from my TP-LINK router?

Hello,

My ISP brought my a CISCO 2420 wifi router because they don't have simple cable modems anymore, but I already have a TP-LINK 1043 wifi router...

I want to use the TP-LINK as a router wifi and the CISCO only as a standard modem without wifi or router features.

Is this possible? How can I do this?

Or is it better to get a cable modem?

The easiest solution is to allow the Cisco unit to do the routing and set the TP-Link up as an access point.

You really can leave the wireless radio on the Cisco or not, doesn't matter, just attach the TP-Link with an LAN to LAN connection and turn DHCP off in the TP-Link to configure it as an AP. If you leave the Cisco radio on, use the same SSID, security type and passkey, a different radio channel (selecting from 1, 6, and 11 the non-overlapping channels), give the AP a static address set in it and in the main Cisco router that is in the network range but outside the DHCP assignable range of the Cisco.

What is your most important goal of using the TP-Link? There are other configurations to accomplish specific needs.

I don't like the CISCO DPC2420 because, as usual, my ISP disabled a lot of features. Also, I can not see the router's signal, status or log, I can't access these pages, I receive a message saying "This feature is not enabled. This feature has not been enabled in your cable modem."

That's why I wanted to use the CISCO as a normal cable modem (without wifi and router features) and connect the TP-LINK 1043 to the CISCO DPC2420 as my router wifi so other devices can connect to this router and not the CISCO.

Furthermore, my wifi network has disappeared, I can only have Internet via ethernet cable. Tomorrow my ISP will change this router to another one. LOL..

Call your isp and ask them to put the modem into (bridge mode) they can do this from there end.
my isp did it for me now it acts like an old modem. i just connect the lan port from the modem to my routers wan port like you would any modem.

bridge mode will disable all routing features (Wi-Fi, Ect) and simply make it into a modem. Witch you connect to a router.
