Yagzhemaash.
When I disable the pagefile in Windows 8.1, my PC crashes when waking up from either hibernation or hybrid-shutdown, just before the spinny circle thing. There are no notifications - it just shuts down suddenly as if the power was cut (I can hear the head crash inside my HDD).
After re-booting, there is an error message in Event Viewer that says, "HAL - The system watchdog was triggered."
This issue still occurs after upgrading to Windows 10 (July 29 release), or a clean reinstall, suggesting some hardware issue.
And before you ask "why disable the pagefile?", my system seems to use it too often for no apparent reason (even when the RAM is like ~30%), causing the entire UI to lag. I might need an SSD but obviously they don't take unexpected shutdowns very well.
Help. Thanks.
EDIT: my system specs:
- Lenovo Z50-70
- Windows 8.1 / Windows 10 (recent)
- i7-4510U
- 8 GB DDR3
- NVIDIA GeForce GT 840M
- 1TB + 8GB Toshiba SSHD, 5400 RPM
