Yeah so last time i made this thread, it just got closed, please dont do that..?

When i enable XMP, my CPU temperature rises = i cannot safely overclock as much as i'd like to.
Since i primarily use my PC to game, would it make more sense to just leave my ddr4 ram at stock speed, and OC my CPU further? With XMP on i get 4.5ghz on the CPU, without it i can push to 4.7 before seeing similar temps.
What do you guys think?

When you enable the XMP you are actually already overclocking the CPU and memory controller which is why you are seeing it run warmer. Usually you are going to get better performance with XMP on versus running at at 2133 and overclocking the CPU another 200mhz.

You might be able to squeeze another 100mhz, though it's not worth it. You might want to look into raising the ring ratio and system agent voltage to get a more stable overclock when using XMP profiles.

What is your temps with XMP versus off when overclocked?

with the Skylake and Kaby Lake you can go as high as 1.35v, though 1.3v is much better for long term. Temps 80c is fine, not ideal, but it will go 5+ years.

The CPU temps im seeing with XMP enabled is roughly 75-77 ish degrees at 4.5ghz.
Disabling XMP i can go to 4.7ghz before seeing temps in that range again.
I am just trying to figure out what would give me the "best" fps. As i'v read ramspeed is not that important, at least not for an i5-7600k.
