Disappointing speeds from M.2 950 pro

I just installed an M.2 Samsung 950 pro SSD, and my speeds are well below advertised:

Setup:
Mobo: Asus Z97-A
CPU: 4790K
Ram: 32GB at 1866
GPU: Quadro K4200

Did I misread the documentation for the Z97-A, and it only has 2 lanes for the M.2 slot? Will a PCI adapter card fix this?

I am hoping for speeds more along these lines:

yup. manual said it share with both the pcie x1 slot
as long as you only have 1 gpu. manual said out of the 3 pcie x16, 1 of the max at x2 speed.

Ah crap. I saw that bit that says 'Up to 10Gb/s transfer speeds' and figured I was good to go.

I should be able to use an adapter like this and get full speed from my drive, correct?
