Hi everyone,

I have a rather old (8yrs) self-built PC which is still running fine.
Some days ago the CPU Fan started making weird noises on higher speeds (Arctic Freezer 13 on LGA1150) and I tried disassembling the fan according to the various videos found on youtube.
According to youtube, the fans are supposed to have some kind of sticker, which you can remove in order to disassemble the fan. My fan does not have this sticker, both sides of the fan are solid plastic.
How can I disassemble the fan? Am I just supposed to pull?

Kind regards,
Visosilver

Arctic Freezer 13 has a FDB fan with the bearings in an oil bath. If you take it apart, you will never be able to seal it up again well enough to keep the oil in, in which case you'd be left with a sloppy-fit sleeve bearing.

If the blades wobble enough to touch the housing or make a buzzing sound, then maybe that is what you already have as the oil leaked out. Time to replace it.

Ah thanks, that is the info I was looking for.
I replaced it with the stock cooler, which I still had in storage somewhere.
Guess I will keep the stock cooler in place, even if it is louder. Sooner or later I will have to replace the PC anyways.
