Hello!

I looked on the internet and found nothing about this, it would help me and maybe others. Really sorry if this is a stupid question, but I really want to make sure nothing is wrong with my PC, and if I need to do anything. Also my DVI cable fell out of my monitor and I plugged it back in and it read "Power saving mode" This happened to me before and turns out my card died. I recently got a 970. I was just about to give up on PCs. But then I looked online, and a guy here said I needed to drain the power from my motherboard. So I shut down my PC, and unplugged the power this is when the beeping happened, then just cut out. The PC was out when the beeping happened, as if it was telling me it still had power. I am not sure. But to my amazement and delight, the system booted up by holding down power while unplugged. So this is why I am asking this in case there is anything wrong if I need to update my bios or anything. If this is normal or if there is anything I should do I would appreciate it if you could help me.

Thanks for reading and helping me out I really appreciate it.

It seems your system is getting charged of static, that's why after draining it works fine until static builds up again.

Could be a shorting somewhere in your build by some piece of hardware making contact where it shouldn't, it could also be a faulty PSU.

Try the breadboarding test to see if the problem persists:

It's described after step 23 I think, if the problem doesn't happen while breadboarding it was simply a bad assembly inside the case.

Also please post your full PC specs just to not overlook anything.

Thank you for your detailed and much appreciated response.

I was on a tight budget of £650. So in order to get a PC this powerful, I needed to recycle some parts from my old PC. The case and PSU where both used in my previous PC. It is 650W and hopefully is capable of the job.

I am confident that I installed the Motherboard correctly but if you think it is this I will double check. My graphics card sits well inside the case after some modifying to the drive cages, the temps are far better then expected.

Temps under load:
GPU: 65-68°
CPU: 40-58°
Motherboard: 25-28

Temps idle:
Motherboard: 23-27°
GPU: 35-38°
CPU: 28-38°

For me these are good temps and I am very happy with them, I rebooted the PC after this and it all worked fine. If there is anything you think I should do to prevent damage it would be greatly apprcaited.

Here are my specs:
Motherboard: Asus H97-PRO
GPU: GTX 970
CPU: Intel core i5 4690K
PSU: Enermax (Can't remember the model, sorry about this. If it is needed I will find it)

Thanks for your responce and helping me out :)

Should I update my BIOS? Because almost every time I turn on my PC when it is cold, 4 beeps then "CPU fan error" I look in the BIOS and it seems the fan only turns on what it is about 25°. When it is first turned on when the system is cold this happens every time. It isn't a big deal but I am desiding if updating my BIOS would be a good idea.

Thanks for your assistance, I really appreciate it.

Try plugging again the cpu fan in the CPU_FAN connector, could be that it's simply making bad contact or something, if problem persists however then yes, a BIOS update could be the solution, as long as the update doesn't get interrupted there should be no problems at all.

Refer to your manual on how to do it, apparently there's no software option to do it from within Windows, so better look carefully at each step for how to do it from BIOS, most likely it has the "EZ-flash" from inside BIOS, you simply connect your pendrive with the bios file, enter BIOS, choose EZ-Flash and let it do its job, once the pc restarts itself the update should be finished.

Ok, also today I was playing dayz and after about a hour the PC shut down, not cut off but the screen just faded and restarted. What confuses me is that it has never done it with Battlefield 4. Either a coincidence or something is wrong. As I know dayz Is quite a CPU intenceive game but I am not sure, the temps are fine I am really confused about this.

Thanks for your help with the BIOS update, if you think it will be a good move then I will go for it, and I will read the manual like you said so I wont damage anything.

Thanks for your help and please ask for more info on my problem.

Monitor with HWMonitor Pro with its log feature enabled while gaming, some games might push harder than others, granted that BF4 is one of the most demanding games nowadays, so its possible its some specific issue with dayz, continue testing with other games to see if the problem is specific or not to dayz.
