Router: Netgear R6250
Modem: iPhotonix 6403
Motherboard: MSI x470
OS: Windows 10
ISP: Summit Broadband, hardwired to my PC via ethernet cable.
4 Devices actively connected
Whenever I try to play any games on my consoles or PC that require me to connect directly to another player as a host, the internet to my PC goes out for approx 5 mins. If I were to unplug my ethernet cable and switch ports around, it would instantly be back up, but I still cannot connect to other people.
Some scenarios that this may occur:
ANY SERVER BROWSER IN ANY GAME, D/C'S my internet when it attempts to load.
I cannot 1v1 my friends on Melee with Netplay. It simply says I cannot connect. They can't connect to me either.
I cannot play Halo on PC at the moment, since most matches are hosted by other players.
It's really frustrating. I tried resetting my NAT type, flushing my DNS, and still no luck. I was told to disable DMZ in the router settings, but I've seen many warnings online that says not to do this, since it isn't very secure.
At the moment, the only solution I have to this issue is to use a VPN on my PC to play these games (with somewhat high latency,) and to play off my phones wifi hotspot for my consoles (with EXTREMELY HIGH latency.)
Any ideas? Any help is much appreciated. If I need to provide more info, just let me know, apologies if this is vague at all.
