Question Discrepancy between calculated disk space used and what windows 10 says in "My Computer"

If I go to my computer windows says Im using just about 50% of my available space shown here

Meanwhile if I navigate into it and highlight everything windows reports nowhere near the amount of space the previous screen shot says im using

In total there is 500GB worth of space, windows says im using half of it but Ive calculated only 78gb. I have no partitions, I am running a samsung SSD but I do not have overprovisioning set up. Im completely confused on where this data is, any ideas?

Download and run Space Monger on your SSD. I find this tool very useful for getting a good idea of where your storage is being used. Remember there are some hidden parts like if you still have Hibernation on (normally matches how much RAM you have) or the page file that wont show up under the C: directory but Space Monger should show those. However that wouldn't make up for a 170GB difference.
