AMD's releasing their highest end of the Polaris cards this summer, based on the Polaris 10 GPU. In addition to the medium/low range Polaris 11 design. Nvidia seems to be releasing their highest end Pascal cards beginning next year because they want HBM 2 on them. That's a different strategy. One's dumping a whole new lineup of gaming cards over a single quarter, the other seems to be doing mid range first, then broadening over 2-3 quarters.

(historically, the 390x level of performance is AMD's 'big' card, not something to counter Nvidia's titan level of cards like they did with Fiji.)

The naming might be different but i imagine vega would not be too different than polaris. Maybe just minor updates lkke GCN1.0 going to GCN1.1. but one thing for sure is polaris won't be 600mm2 monster like GP100.

It seems you were assuming that nvidia needs GP100 to counter polaris this year. Digitimes already talk about nvidia going to launch their 'midrange' pascal this year. This will be the card that go head to head with polaris this year.

Vega is the HBM 2 release. Essentially AMD is releasing Polaris and Vega in the time it will take Nvidia to finish releasing Pascal because Nvidia is spreading it out over a long period of time.

And the GTX 980 isn't a midrange card. Therefore, if Nvidia does release an x80, they are releasing higher than midrange cards. The x80 is what they need to counter polaris. Given the lack of announcement thus far, I don't expect it to be available until 4Q 2016.

750ti is more like their test vehicle to relaunch maxwell as 28nm part instead of initially planned 20nm. and for what it's worth API support still the same as kepler while maxwell v2 is fully compliant with Dx11 FL11_0, 11_1, 11_2 and 11_3. plus if they come with GP107 first then they will lose the opportunity to milk GM206. right now the most powerful sub 75w card was the new 950 (without the 6 pin power).

I do not see an X80 pascal this year. IF they announce at computex, thats the start of Q3, that only gives them 3 months to do marketing and promotions push for a market release for Q4. I don't see them doing an X80 till they can counter AMDs polaris one price and performance. It was stated on a german website referenced earlier in this thread and elsewhere that they will come to market with lower end cards first. Which would be Q4 at the earliest...maybe. They aren't likely to release a premium high end item in jan cause people don't buy right after christmas. So that leaves Q2 next year that it comes to market. or they may release the reference model in limited supply in Q1 which no one will be able to get. It will still take the aftermarket manufactures MSI etc a full quarter to get their cards out. Q2 at the earliest or Q3 is probably a safer bet.

TLDR Q2 2017 earliest consumer high end cards will be available.

Lol where all this predicton coming from? And nvidia doesn't need to hype their product for a full quarter ahead first before launching them. At the very least i haven't seen them doing so ever since fermi era. Back when they are try to claim back their market share when they were 6 months late with 480.

True nvidia need X80 part to compete with polaris but that x80 part does not mean it will be based on GP100. after seeing what nvidia has done since kepler pretty much everyone knows that x80 will be based on GP104. So nvidia have fully working 610mm2 GP100 right now (if they not then you won't see DGX-1 being sold starting june) what are the odds nvidia cannot be done with much smaller chip? (GP104, GP106, GP107).

Yes there are rumors nvidia might start with low end first but that rumor have nothing solid to back it up. Usually they just make their prediction based on previous history but if you have been following gpu news for years you will be aware that prediction can be nothing. For example many expect AMD to release 8k series by the end of 2012 but in the end 290X did not coming out until october 2013. even for nvidia many predicted that nvidia will not going to have working 500mm2-600mm2 chip by the end of this year or Q1 next year and yet GP100 already on volume production well long pass working prototype that has just gone back from the fab.

Wccftech usually make article just for the sake of having one everyday. Videocardz are more trustworthy when it comes to leak and rumors. Remember those captain jack rumor back in late 2014? VCZ was among the few site that did not post the rumor on their page.

If I am reading the specs chart on that link correctly it seems the 1080 won't be superior to the 980ti or the titan X. If these make an appearence in Q3 as the article portends, What are the chances Nvidia will launch replacement cards for the high end in Q4?

Hey guys. I've neglected this thread, so I'm behind on the latest rumors.

Question #1: What month will GTX 1070 and 1080 be for sale?

Question #2: What month will GTX 1080 Ti be for sale?

Thank you in advance and I sincerely apologize if this has already been answered at nauseum.

Unknown, is the answer to both of those questions.
