Disgusting TV resolution

I recently got a "Sharp sharp lc-32a37m" TV for a bday gift and I was hoping to use it with gaming, the problem is my gpu uses HDMI and I cant change the screen resolution for the TV's HDMI inputs. right now i'm using a 1080i, 1768 x 992 resolution and I just get this disgusting, low quality screen with a black border.

8GB ram
Nvida geforce GTX 1060
600w PSU
Asus z97m plus
Sharp lc-32a37m

that TV has a resolution of 1366x768, so try lowing it to that, and it should look normal, just not that sharp.

Just tried it, now my desktop is a small rectangle with huge black bars around it

check your nvidia settings, make overscan is turned off, also use the TV menu to make sure it doesnt have overscan; also set the TV's resolution to auto.
