dish receiver recordings transfered to seagate external hard drive. can i play it on my mac?

Solution
No you can't the dish receiver uses a prepriotory file format. You would need a video capture card and PC to one by one record them in a file format recognized by your computer
The external harddrive is formatted in an open source Linux file format called ext3. I can mount my external dish haddrive on my linux OS machine and open the harddrive and the folders and view the folder content. Using a hex editor I can view the files in hex format. So far I have not figured out how to convert the video file to a format I can play in a video viewer as I just started this project.

However if you have windows there is a way of looking at ext3 formatted drives from windows, so hope this helps you further in this quest.

I'm really new to all this stuff so please bear with me. I tried playing the EHD on my smart tv and got a little further than i did trying on my Mac. as a reminder, my EHD has recordings off of Dish Tv, which I no longer have. is there an app that can be used to decode or do I call dish tv? My main focus is to play the device on my smart tv. i'm kinda confused and frustrated, as I am not very computer/tech savvy. thanks for your help.
