Disk Activity at 100% on StartUp, slows initial bootup time.

So basically I've had this laptop for 2 weeks now and I'm having issues with the Disk Usage. The laptop was okay before the recent big windows update but now it isn't. On start-up the Disk Usage is through the roof at 100% for some length of time. After a while it does go back to normal but at random times it shoots back up. I can't pinpoint what the problem is because the read/write looks normal to me, nothing is over using the disk. I've tried many fixes, such as disabling Superfetch and Prefetch. I've also disabled Services like Windows Search ect and even changed my virtual memory. Nothing works. I will attach a screenshot of Task Manager and Resource Monitor.

Do you have lots of bloatware or any viruses on the PC? Can you go to the resource monitor from the task manager and investigate where the usage is coming from?

This is a common issue with windows 10

You can disable superfetch and windows search

Sometimes windows search loops causing it to take up all the disk memory.

to temporarily disable windows search upon the command menu by searching "Cmd" in Cortana; RIGHT CLICK cmd and choose run as administrator.

After which enter this command (You can copy paste it)

net.exe stop "Windows search"

To permanently disable Windows Search open RUN (Press Windows Key + R) enter services.msc and click enter

In the services menu that opens scroll down to windows search right click it and under "startup" choose disabled, click applied and that's it.

Task manager should go down from 100% to a more realistic number.

Nah, Ive done plenty of virus scans and barely used the laptop for anything other than programming. In resource monitor I had no idea what im looking for because I dont know what it should look like. Ive added a Imgur on my thread for people to take a look.

I have came across this article before, nothing seems to fix it. I believe it is something to do with windows, which is why it slow down the boot time. I've even done a clean boot by disabling all services and tasks, this still did not work and its driving me mad!

Wish it was that easy, the laptop came with windows 10 already on it :') Think im going to take it back to the store.

Hi there Stefza,

Have you tried running your system in safe mode? You can try that. In case your HDD runs just fine, then it is caused by Win services. You have to explore many different causes and their solutions, or take it back to the store. There are multiple threads on that.

Examples:
http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-2813275/disk-usage-100.html
https://www.reddit.com/r/techsupport/comments/3h4wjg/windows_10_high_disk_usage_100_ive_seen_a_thread/

If the issue persists when under safe mode, then there could be something wrong with the drive.
You can test it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility
