Have an older 3.5 inch sata HDD that the sata connections got fried. Really odd, but what's done is done. There is zero visible damage anywhere else on the board.
I purchased a used HDD of the exact same make/model board number from what I can tell anyway.
I was hoping that because it was the same board would not have to swap bios chip, but after booting PC and getting disk boot failure, please insert system disk msg I'm thinking I'll have to. I restarted the PC and ran diagnostics. The HDD shows error code BIOHD-2.
Really would like to find out if installing my Windows 7 DVD will get me up and running or is it most likely be a complete reinstall, (if the drive is even any good). The other thing I'm wondering is if this just the expected outcome of needing to just swap bios chip from original board.
I've never done this before so any help is much appreciated.

Thank you.
