Hello,
i have an asus motherboard with xp and I received a DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER.....will i loose all my programs and files on my c drive with a reboot?

NO !! BUT first check all disk connections both power cable and data for firm connection , the "insert system disk" is telling you that the OS is NOT seeing the boot files, see above..
