intalling windows 98SE on new comp, get DISK BOOT FAILURE, INSERT BOOT DISK AND PRESS ENTER. both cd and disk have worked before. using a Creative cd-rw.

System is...
Asus A7V
t-bird 900 mhz
256mb 133
maxtor 30gb 7200rpm

It sounds to me like you haven't made the bootable partition active using FDISK ?

Anyway if you haven't, boot from a floppy disk and run FDISK, theres an option on the first menu that says something like "Set active partition", go into it and select the first partition on the hard disk (if you've got more than one) and then re-boot again using the floppy disk. Now format the hard disk using the following command:

Format c:/s

You should then be able to boot using the hard disk instead of the floppy.

Hope this helps :)
