Hello everybody!

Today I ran the Windows Disk Cleanup on my main drive. When it finished scanning, it found
576 GB of temporary files!??

I checked and found out that the temp folder only contains 100 GB.

In addition, I am not aware of any 400 GB of unnecessary files on my system.
(I use the TreeSize app regularly to check for any unneeded files).

So where did it find 576 GB?!
I'm afraid to let him delete all those files, because I don't want to lose any important staff.

How do you explain that?
(I'm using Windows 7).

Solution
There also logs and other locations that on in temp folder. You have a 100GB temp folder?
I use ccleaner for disk cleanup as it show what kind of files they are and from which folder it deleting
delete all of the temp files as none of them are really neccesary to your computer, also it may be finding large amounts of malware on your pc that you were not alert of, as this tends to appaer in the temp folder often

Thank you for your answers.

After I had manually deleted the 100 GB of files in the temp folder, I ran the Disk Cleanup once again, and in this time, it showed that there are no more temp files to be deleted.

I guess it was just a weird bug of the Disk Cleanup.

But Disk Cleanup doesn't find anymore temporary files. I assume it was just a bug that caused the Disk Cleanup app to recognize the 100 GB of temp files as 576 GB.
