Hi everyone,
When I try to put a disk into my drive, it sounds as if it is loading the disk, but after a few seconds there is a rumbling sound and the disk won't show up in My Computer. This happens for a few times then stops, but I can't access any disks. Does anyone know what the problem is?

EDIT: The green light next to the eject button also flashes for a couple of seconds, forgot to mention that.

Solution
Try the disc in another system. Your drive may be failing.

In rare occasions the drive gets locked out and re-starting the system may fix it(third party software may conflict, but again it is rather rare.).

With DVD drives sometimes the fail to read dual layer discs first, but still read single layer and cd's.

Lucky for you optical drives are fairly cheap and easy to install(assuming your system is not very old.).
