I bought an LG Gram laptop that includes a utility to create a backup of the disk but it does not allow me to do it since the drive is encrypted and it is not possible to make the backup or the recovery, it advises to disable BitLocker for this. The laptop comes with Windows 11 Home installed and BitLocker encryption activated apparently, I do not have any BitLocker key or password and I never used it that I remember, I usually make backups of the entire disk with Easeus Todo Backup and I have made one of this and saved it but now I have the doubt if I have to recover it, will it let me?Can someone tell me how I should proceed to be able to make backups of the entire drive with the mentioned program or also use this utility for this that the LG Gram brings. If I disable BitLocker will it solve it?Greetings

Remove Bitlocker encryption.
Control Panel/Bitlocker Drive Encryption.

For a regular person it is not necessary
(unless you're having some government or commercial secrets on your pc
or something illegal).
Thanks for the reply, I'm disabling it.
Taking advantage of the previous post, I cloned this disk to another one of higher quality with Easeus Todo Backup and when installing it on the laptop I got a blue error screen and I put the one I had back in. Do you think it could have been because I had BitLocker enabled?

Windows 11 Home, with compatible hardware, and a Microsoft account, uses something called "Device Encryption". It's essentially the same thing as BitLocker but it doesn't have any of the fancy options.

You can toggle Device Encryption off by heading over to Windows Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Device Encryption.

By the way, you won't have a BitLocker "password" but you will have a "BitLocker recovery key" and you can find it by logging into your Microsoft account online -> Devices -> See details -> BitLocker data protection. It's always a good idea to have a printout of the recovery key.

Depends on BSOD error.
Next time, when you get the error, make a screenshot.
Hi again, next week now that I have disabled encryption I can now make a backup of the OS with the utility that comes with the LG Gram. I'm going to make one and try to restore it on the disk that I had cloned to see if it works.
Regards

Hi, yes that was the option that was activated and that I deactivated yesterday on the advice of "SkyNetRising" the laptop is a LG Gram 17Z90S-G.AD89B that comes with Windows 11 Home so it does not have BitLocker (the laptop is for personal use not for any company) I have never used BitLocker and in this case it came with Windows 11 Home so I don't see the need to change to Pro for what I use it for: Office, web and some video or movie.
Greetings

As I said before, Device Encryption and BitLocker are the same things. You may think you don't need it but some folks are happy to use it because all their data is encrypted and useless to someone who steals their laptop.
