Disk Read Error

Hello,
i keep geting disk read error after replacing my hard driveon my Dell Insprion 600 and it doesn't boot up. Help Please

oN MY DELL INSPRION 6000 FROM AN OLDER 80 GIG TO A ide 320 GIG PATA SCORPIO BLUE

I CHANGED IT MYSELF JUST OPENED IT AND TOOK THE OLD ONE OUT LINED UP THE PINS AND PUT IT BACK IN

From what I understand, this disk is the boot disk. The way to replace this is doing one of two things:

1) Clone the old disk on to the new disk. Install the new disk in place of the old, and start the computer.

OR

2) Install the new 320 GB disk and re-install the Operating System on this disk using the Windows re-installation disk provided by Dell along with your computer.
