Okay, I seem to have a very strange problem which I can't find in google. Every time I do a high disk-usage activity (like extracting compressed files) in my PC, the disk usage won't go past 50%. Most of the time it stays at exactly 50% but goes down from time to time. This really annoys me because it takes an unreasonably longer time to get a simple copy-paste task done.

BTW, I'm using Windows 10 Pro and I never encountered this kind of problem in the past. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you :).

This is should be the answer,it's worth a try.

Go to Control Panel, Power, High Performance, Change Advanced Settings. When the Power Options pops up, towards the top is in blue is "Change settings that are unavailable" click on that. Go down to processor power management. Click on the + sign, there are three settings:

Minimum processor state should be Battery 5%, Plugged in 100%

Maximum processor state should be Battery (your choice up to 100%) Plugged in 100%

This should do it.

Sounds like you have an external USB hard drive connected. On the main tab - Processes - Disk shows the percent usage for ALL total disks. Thus - your internal C is at 100% and your USB drive is at 0% equals 50%. Under "performance", you will see it broken out. Disconnect your external drive and give it about 10 seconds. The percent will climb back to 100% (or normal).
