Hi everyone,
I am trying to make a partition using command prompt. I need to partition the disks to be formatted in NTFS so I can install Windows 7 on my laptop. I've been doing this before and having no problem with my other laptops. It's my first time to encounter a problem.

I'm on the step where I'll be creating a partition using cmd line
CREATE PARTITION PRIMARY SIZE=307200

But it gives me an error message saying "DiskPart has encountered an error: The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error."

I hope someone could help me figure this out. Thanks in advance!

Looks like you will need a new hard drive.

something is wrong with that disk, bad sectors maybe?
run dban on it and then try diskpart again.

thanks! I'll consider doing this one. But may I ask if there's any other alternative method in using dban? I currently don't have an extra pc to use for downloading and creating a bootable drive. If none, then I'll just wait until I get home so I can try using dban. :)

no alternative sorry.
it has to be bootable media (CD or USB)

Thanks, then if I've used dban and diskpart but still get error, does that mean I need an hd replacement?
By the way, I tried to make a Hard Disk Test and this is the result.

Solution
I guess I need a new one, I couldn't run dban too after creating a bootable one. It keeps showing "no bootable drive". I will just bring it to a technician since I have limited tools to use to check the hard drive. Thanks for helping.
