Display adapter issues

Hello,
I installed an update for my mobile intel 965 express chipset video driver. this worked great at first, then my computer wouldn't start again. I had to go to system restore and then the chipset wouldn't work at all...the computer would only display via the vga low resolution settings, like in safe mode. Go to install the update, and the whole thing happens again.

Boot into safe mode and install the correct video drivers.
A windows update will see a up to date driver and leave it, It sounds like Win update is attempting to configure your video drivers for you.
