Hi,
Recently I purchased a new 27" 4K monitor and upgraded my machine from win 8.1 to win 10 in order to get better support for higher DPI for my multi monitor rig.
Here are when the problems started:
1. the main problem is that with the main monitor set to 175% scale (looks good) the two other monitors are set to 100% scaling - (icons/text looks giant - basically almost unusable). If I set it to a lower scaling (on the 4K monitor) I can't read the text or see the icons as they are so small.
2. when the monitors goes to sleep things get massed up - icons on the main monitor turn tiny and open tabs on the main monitor move to the 24" monitor for no reason.

My system:
Intel 6 core + Asus X99, 32GB ram. Asus GTX970.
Nvidia driver
Displays:
1. 27" Dell 4K - main (connected using DP).
2. 24" Dell 1920x1200 (connected using DVI).
3. 23" LG 1680x1050 (connected using HDMI).

I am using nvidia's latest driver for my GTX970.

I talked to MS and the representative (who had really poor English and I am not sure knew what he was talking about) said that the only way this will work is if I connect the 2 lower res displays to a second GPU. I have a few but they are old GT210 is the newest (I have 8800GT which is super old). I tried to connect the GT210 but it is not recognized by win 10 and I can't seem to install it along with the 970GTX to see if it will work or not (buying something newer just for the very low chance that it will help seems kind of silly).

Ideas on what I can do?

Hi,

I can't answer this one for you unfortunately. However I can share some of my experience with Windows 10. I have upgraded to Windows 10 on several computers, and have seen it upgraded on other people's computer. I upgraded a Windows 7 computer that I keep in my bedroom for playing content to a 42" Sharp LCD TV. In Windows 7 I was able to set a custom resolution for the Sharp (24 FPS) TV which works wonderfully, however once I upgraded to Windows 10 the edges of my Desktop were cut off no matter what I did (identical custom resolution settings in NVidia Control Panel, etc). In the end I decided that I just wanted my TV viewing to be the best that it could be so I simply reverted to Windows 7.

How to Uninstall Windows 10 and Downgrade to Windows 7 or 8.1

The reverting process left all of my data and settings intact.

I suspect at this stage due to how new Windows 10 is that hardware vendors such as NVidia haven't yet refined their drivers sufficiently to deal with all of the scenarios that Windows 10 can 'dream up'.

As a side note, before you revert, assuming that this interests you please check the custom scaling on each of your monitors. Each monitor can have it's own custom scaling in Windows 10 which makes things even more interesting again!

Good luck...

Cheers

Hi Devo,
Thanks for sharing.
I know all about the custom scaling in win 10 - if it worked as it should - I should have had no problems - it doesn't (for me) and this is exactly the main problem and what I am trying to resolve.

I don't think win 8.1 or 7 (which is great OS) can solve this as non of them support hi-dpi and scaling better than win 10 from what I understand (I had 8.1 for a brief moment with the new 4k monitor before I upgraded and had the same issue).

Other ideas from other users?
