Recently I have been having issues with one of my monitors where it has developed a half oval blank spot over the task bar and clock. I have tried updating video drivers, and noticed that when video was no longer being sent to the monitor that the anomaly got brighter and then went back to its normal dark color when video returned. Attached is a picture of the issue. I have never seen anything like this before, so I am at a loss as to what I could try or if its just a damaged panel. (No trauma to the screen that I know of).

Here is what it looks like:

Looks like a defective display. What you are seeing is the backlight increasing/decreasing brightness to cope with the video display. The blank spot is damaged pixels not responding to the video signal.

Can you replicate this issue on another device? Laptop, another PC, etc.

If that anomaly is still there, only way to fix this is to buy a brand new monitor. That monitor is pretty old anyway.
