My display screen does not fill the entire monitor screen. I am using ATI radeon gfx card, and Samsung 21" LED monitor. And my resolution is set high as recommended to 1920 X 1080. How to get rid of the dark black border and fill the entire screen without stretching the images?

If you are using VGA cable then press the "Auto" button on ur monitor so that it will adjust to fill the whole screen. It is recommended to use either DVI or HDMI cable for better display quality.

This is from the another forum and the credit is due to the OP.

In the Catalyst Control Center (CCC for short) inspect the following settings:

Right-click your desktop, and go to the Catalyst Control Center. Set it to advanced mode if it's not already.
- At the top left, click the "Graphics" menu, and then "Desktops & Displays".
- For your desired display, left click the little black triangle in the bottom part of the screen, on the LITTLE picture, not the BIG one, and click "Configure".

This part is very CRUCIAL. There is a little picture of a TINY TINY Monitor and TINY TINY Arrow at the FAR bottom LEFT of the CCC menu. It is this LITTLE ARROW that you left click on by the button that says "Basic..." and the button that says "OK" When you click on the little little llittle black arrow (not the Big Black Arrow in the middle of the CCC window you will get the option to click "Configure" Then the following will be available to you:

There will be 6 buttons at the top of the CCC

Attributes

Avivo Color

Scaling Options

HDTV Support

LCD Overdrive

Pixel Format

Under Attributes

- check the "Enable GPU scaling" box and select "Scale image to full panel size". Hit Apply.

Under Scaling Options

- There is a slider bar to set Underscan and Overscan. I set Overscan to 0% and everything was instantly perfect.

Click Apply

Hi,

Looks like this may solve my problem, but the trouble is I couldnt see any way to open CCC. I am using windows 8, and it doesnt show any CCC when I right click on the desktop. I tried from Device Manager, it couldnt be done there either. I could not find any CCC on my desktop Apps.

Hi, ttcboy,

Thanks for your reply, No it wasn't silly to ask such question, as I understand you are trying to solve my problem.

This is the driver I installed from the CD I have got, BUT while installing I noticed there was no other choices except the driver for Win XP and Win Vista, for which I opted for the latter (Vista). Would this be an issue here?

ATI Radeon HD 4770 (Microsoft Corporation - WDDM v 1.1)

I hope this gives you a better picture. I do not mind changing my gfx card if I cant solve this problem, but same time I am also curious to know the problem and the solution here. Meanwhile I will try to download the driver from the link you gave me and update it to see if it works.. Thank you.

I have removed my older driver and installed one that I downloaded from the link you gave me. This time I could see the Catalyst Control center when I right clicked on the desktop But the message I received is as follows:-

Catalyst Control Center cannot be started.
There are currently no settings that can be configured using Catalyst Control center.
