Sometimes, or...Alot of times, my computer will go black as if the monitor has switched off, the sound goes off, and my computer makes a noise that can only be described as a louder version of its normal noises. Sometimes it comes back on and comes up with "display driver NVIDIA kernel mode driver 347.09 stopped responding and has successfully recovered" But other times it just seems to switch off, but the computer seems to still make noise? Im using a Nvidia GTX 460 and a 550watt PSU I think. Also, its seeming to happen whenever I play games for a while or go on the internet. If you need any more details feel free to ask!

Try using an older driver. The 347.09 driver may have compatibility issues with your hardware. You will want to uninstall the current drivers using Display driver uninstaller and then reinstall the drivers. It may even be worth using the DDU to uninstall all previous Nvidia drivers and reinstall the 347.09 drivers if you had previous versions installed prior to installing that version. What is your Windows version?

I've seen this happen before. The problem you described happened to me right after I installed the latest version of flash player.

Here are a few things to try:

1. see if you can rollback your driver to a previous version.

2. for shits and giggles, try uninstalling flash player (you don't need it if you have a HTML 5 supporting browser)

3. perhaps a system restore point. Hit start/windows+R, type in "rstrui.exe", press enter. Follow on-screen instructions to perform the system restore.
