Hello,
I've been encountering this issue for... Months now. What happens is that I play a game (specifically: Dead by Daylight on Steam) and the game will randomly freeze for a second, and then the sounds returns but the screen is still completely frozen. I am able to tab out and close, but the game itself has to be restarted. I've been trying various things throughout the months. Such as DDU clean install of Nvidia drivers. I also went into Device Manager, clicked them all to ensure they were all up to date. I attempted to add a tdrDelay of 10 within the registry, as some have reported it to be helpful. The latest attempt, which was two days ago, was to reset windows 10, but I crashed again with that same error:
"Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and has successfully recovered."
I know not what to do, nor try anymore. I've spent hours upon hours online, surfing through the website(s) to find a solution, but nothing has worked as of yet. It is my hope that someone has encountered this issue before and found a fix. Whilst my PC is by no mean powerful, in fact, pretty weak to today's gaming standard, it never does that on any other games. This one, only. If it was a hardware issue, wouldn't it happen on every games? Or am I wrong?
Thank you!
I should probably add some system information:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3770k CPU @ 3.50GHz
Motherboard: ASUSTEK Computer INC. Product: P8Z68-V PRO GEN3 Version: Rev 1 .xx
Ram: 8gb RAM
SSD/HDD: No Ssd - 1TB HDD (My system info only gives the serial number, if that's useful?)
GPU: Nvidia GTX 660
PSU: PC pre-built, we had it changed years ago and it was 600 W, I believe.
Chassis: Pre-built from 2013, I do not know. Basic one, no RGB.
OS: version(not edition) of the OS! 10.0.19044 Build 19044
Monitor: philips 247eLH 60hz
BIOS version:
BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends Inc. 3202, 2/17/2012
I am willing to try whatever you think may work, and add any information about my PC that you deem valuable. Let me know
