Display Driver Stopped Responding and has Recovered/ Windows 8

My graphics card is an NVIDIA Gefore GT 750M.

I saw other threads and they said it is because their computer was overclocked, but I do not remember overclocking my computer at all. How do i change it back to a non-overclocked settings if I did accidentally?

I have a Lenovo Y400 Ideapad laptop.

I have tried updating my display driver several times and tried several older versions of the driver, but I get the same error with the only difference is that it shows a different display driver version has crashed.

If you have done driver updates and installed drivers multiple times it might be driver conflict.

Use CC cleaner to run Registry scan.

I have used CC cleaner weekly, and I still have this problem.

So, you mentioned that you update your drivers regularly, is this automatic update or manual update?

If you update manually make sure that the drivers are for mobility/laptops. (if you have used the drivers for dekstop it will cause problems).

I manually updated my display driver and it is for the notebook version.

I have been noticing my laptop heats up really easily compared to in the past, and I think that is the reason why my display is crashing due to overheating. I tried using msi afterburner and lowered my cpu core clock by 100 Mhz and memory clock by 200 Mhz, but it does not seem to help with the temperature of my laptop.

So it is clearly is the Temperature. Yes laptops don`t have better cooling.
It is best to use cooling fans and try again.

I have been using an external fan for quite some time now though.

I had never had these temperature problems when this laptop was new. So I'm guessing the quality of this notebook deteriorated so much that it can't even maintain a stable temperature?

In most cases yes. How old is your laptop? Mine died for about 4 years of service.

I have not own this laptop for very long; I've had it for about 2 years.

Well for the solution, I have experienced driver issue on my GX60 1AC when I updated it. The best thing is to revert to the manufacturer`s drivers which were included in the Driver Disc.

If you find it OK, then try to update the drivers again.
