I recently got my Sapphire 6870 1GB card. I get the error message "Display Driver has stopped responded but recovered". My problem is that I bought Battlefield 3 and I would like to play it.

My graphics card gets this issue on-
11-12
11-10
11-9
11-8
11-7
Amd Catalyst Drivers

On 11-6 is works fine and dandy but I need at least 11-7 for Battlefield 3. I know it isnt the card itself but I do not know what to do. Should I upgrade to Windows Ultimate and hope that helps? I really dont want to RMA anything because I have no patience.

Please help me.

yeah, use driver sweeper remove all drivers you may have including any old nvidia drivers if you have any. Also you may want to try the 12.1 preview drivers, you'll need to google it and find the download link.

I was able to run BF3 on 11.12 however just fine, I'm running HD6870 X2 in crossfire.

Totally off topic but are you actually using the 6870 X2 cards in crossfire? Or are you just using 2 regular ones? I was kinda wondering about the performance.

Oh, no two regular 6870's in crossfire.

I download the drivers from AMD.
Yes I use driver sweeper every time in safe mode when I want to change the update.
I switched back to 11.6. Cant play Saints Row The third or Battlefield 3 anymore.
I message Sapphire about it. Hope them help me.

One more question and I should have asked it sooner. What is the brand and size of your PSU? The reason I ask is. You have a nice rig and you should not have these problems. If your PSU is not the problem then It looks like it is your card has issues.

Did you solve the issue?
I have the same problem at the moment.

Intel 2400
P67 Pro3 SE
8Gb Ram
HIS 6870
1TB hitachi
600 CX2 powersupply

I can run BF3 fine for about 2 hours, then i get a full pc freeze.
League of legends froze after 5min, i had to alt-tab to prevent full pc freeze. After 3 times it freezes no matter what.
I enabled Anti-Aliasing in CCC and league of legends doesn't freeze anymore.
Tho i get some random errors + freeze "AMD video driver has stopped working and recovered"
