I am currently using a Panasonic TC-L47E50 tv for my game. The two monitors that I have available as well are an Acer XB280HK and an Asus PB278Q. Would either of the two be a significant improvement over the tv?

If neither of the ones I have listed would be useful then which should I be looking to buy? I have a budget of ~$1000

My main goal is to have the fastest times for twitchy games such as Call of Duty.

If your goal is fast response time, stick with your 1ms xb280hk, thats as fast as it gets. This way you can save your money until something comes out that you are 100% sure that you want. The fastest response time for TVs is 6ms(Sony KDL42W705B), so your gonna have to go with PC monitors. I really think your Acer is as good as it gets right now. Save your money.

Isn't the Input lag different from the response time? I was under the impression that input lag was what mattered.

I recommend this link to so many people under this topic. This link has a database of almost every monitor worth mentioning and some TVs. It tells you it refresh rate, its response time, input lag, etc. The site even has many detailed and unbiased reviews of different monitors. Id definitely is one of my favorite sites for learning about displays. The lag that the database gives you includes the refresh and input. I recommend the RL2455HM. I am a Call of Duty addict and play very competitively and have no problems. It has a 1ms response time, but a 10ms over all lag.
