I'm going to give you all the info, from start to finish:

So I've experienced this issue before but I didn't look into it to much, basically whenever I play some games on a lower resolution (specifically 1600x900) My monitor/tv goes completely off as if I've been inactive and it switches off or doozes off but by pressing the esc button the picture of what I was doing comes back so the monitor/tv itself doesn't turn off. This generally happens in dark areas such as during night time and dark interiors. Currently the games I've experienced this in is Metal Gear Solid V, Arma 3 and Fallout 4, other games like Dark Souls(1,2&3), X-Com, CS Go work perfectly fine. My monitor/tv's native resolution is 1920x1080 but I play on lower resolution because of more fps. Please if there is anything more you want to know feel free to let me know.

Specs:

R9 390

i7-6700k

Windows 10

hello there may i ask why you are playing at the low of a resolution with a r9-390? i have the r9-390x 8gb and i play at full resolution all the time and dont have any issues and i still get really good fps above 30, b ut im not sure why it would do that i would say it would be a resolution problem hope this helps

I am playing at a lower resolution because
1. Fallout 4 is an un-optimized piece of shit that runs like crap on AMD hardware and bethesda are money hungry whores and therefore accepted payment from NVIDIA to "optimize" their game.
2. On 1080p there are most cases on games that the fps counter says im getting 60 fps but in motion and while playing it feels much more jagged and stuttery.

I'm thinking of getting a new monitor soon with free-sync so hopefully this problem won't be present any longer than it has to be.
I've been thinking of this one: The site is in swedish and I'd like to know what you think about this monitor, is it a good pick? http://www.elgiganten.se/product/datorer-tillbehor/bildskarm/AC24XF240HBMJ/acer-xf240h-24-datorskarm-svart

Thanks.

hello again lol fallout 4 seems to run fine on my R9-390x but anyways i hear free sync monitors are great but i have never used one, now that one on that website which i cant read cause im american lol it is a pretty good one i dont know what the price is in american currency. but a smiliar model is going for 197$ in america and 277$ for its bigger brother 27inch. IPS panels have better visuals but there isnt many of them around in what i call an affordable price range lol. but that one chose is a TN panel and i think it will serve you well i have personally never used acer products so i cant honestly say how well it will be i can just only give my opinion hope this helps
