display help please

i have a Benq GL2460 monitor just got with my system, using the latest drivers for my Asus R9 280x and before i installed the catalyst drivers the display when set to 1080p was using the full display. but after installing the drivers now it leaves like a 2 inch black bar around it like its not using all 24 inches. ive uninstalled 2 times still no luck, after i uninstall and set to 1920x1080 it uses all the dsiplay. im using an HDMI cable as i dont have a dvi cable atm. please help

Over scan setting or something like that.

when you use a HDMI cable the computer thinks you are plugging it into a TV.

My wifes computer has a setting called overscan. (Gateway)

The Asus I just set up calls it something else like "custom display size"

At any rate it is under display setting, then monitor.

Maybe custom aspect ratio, and hold aspect ratio?
