Hey guys I'm wondering why some graphic programs like games run full screen 1920x1080p on my Sony LCD TV but some of them run but the resolution changes and the game appears small screen even though I select full screen, a small box in the middle loads of black border background around it, then when i exit the game desktop comes back full screen on TV screen 1920x1080p and a message at the bottom says my monitor can do 1920x1080p but when i click its options its already 1920x1080p for desktop. My system info is
Dell XPS 15 L502x I7 2.7
Windows 7 Home
Nvidia GT540M Geforce experience drivers 335.23
Projector: Sony 52"KDLX LCD TV

all running through HDMi cable.

I suspect its got something to do with a graphics settings? Anyone help me understand this?

Take this into account, when I disconnect my TV from the laptop the games are all full screen 1920x1080p. but when connected some games appear small box in the middle instead of being full screen.

everything I set to full screen a long time ago used to be full screen on my TV a while back before many updates changed something.

I think I just answered my own question lol I was messing about in the Nvidia graphics options control panel and found that under display adjust desktop size and position I set it to full screen perform scaling on GPU with current resolution 1920x1080 and now it scales the small box games full screen on my LCD TV. That might mean the game itself isn't 1080p but thus this method scales it to full screen on the TV. Just speculation

So I've tried Aspect and Full screen you can choose which you prefer test it out for yourself, as long as the GPU is set then your games should fill up the Projector or TV now. Its amazing what a bit of messing around in the settings can teach you.
