Display looks HORRIBLE!!!

When I bought my pc, I bought it from an ex gamer and it came with a monitor and a display port to hdmi adapter which when plugged in looked great and the quality was great on my monitor but now my adapter broke and when i plug it into the hdmi (from the gpu) it looks horrible. I bought 2 new display port to hdmi adapter and neither of them have made a difference. HOWEVER, I noticed that when i had the old adapter that worked when the screen came on it said "DVI 2 1080p 60hZ" now when i have the new adapter(s) they start off saying that when i first boot windows (10.1) and the quality looks great but the the screen goes off and comes back on saying "HDMI 2 1080p 60hZ" and the quality is terrible again. This is very frustating for me and would love to find an easy fix, also things i have tried:
Setting my refresh rate to the same as the monitors
and plugging into other hdmi ports.

You may want to check the person you bought the card from, it's odd that the card has native HDMI yet he used a DP to HDMI adapter. You said you have "monitors", use just one, with the HDMI port to HDMI without adapters, see how that works. HDMI should have the same quality connection as DP or DVI.

Yes i have tried using just the hdmi to hdmi and the quality was horrible which is why i replaced the adapters, and yes it is strange that the quality was sharper with the adapter. I have only got 1 monitor (setting my refresh rate to the same as the monitor's is what i ment to say)
