Hello community! Hows everyone doing?

Problem:
I purchased two hp c23 monitors a month ago and two dvi-d to hdmi cable to connect from my gigbyte r9 290oc. After switching my hdmi to a dvi-d-to-hdmi. Every was working fine. After a day, i went to turn my screen on and moved my mouse. My screen started to flashes back and forward from sleep mode.

Step i did when i installed my cable:
Everything was still on.
I unplugged the hdmi and switched the cable without turning the power off.
Everything was working fine.
The next day, received a display that say check the video cable.
Switched back to hdmi to hdmi
Still received the same display message but waiting couple of minutes to received picture.

Anyone know what the issue?

And i appreciated the helps.

Would it matter which port i use to display as my main screen and the other will be my secondary?

You set the primary display in windows.
Right click on the desktop and select screen resolution.
Click on the desired primary display and select it as the main display.
You may want to drag one display image to the other side to get the proper extended desktop.

hey I try going into my screen resolution but i dont see anything that say primary display.

Windows 7; don't know about 8
You should see4 lines under the two displays.
The fifth should say this is currently your main display.
If you select the other monitor, you should have a selection box to make it your main display.
