I recently purchased a new LG OLED TV, and I would like to use it, from time to time, as display for my PC. Problem is, the computer is on the other side of the living room (and no cables allowed, mistress orders :) )

So for starters, here is my living room:

My main objective is therefore, for the PC to recognize the TV as a display, without running an HDMI cable accross the living room. My main ideas were using my LAN, but I have serious doubts that would work.

A recent workaround I imagined, was getting this:

Since my TV has Wi-Fi Direct, I think I can cast wirelessly through windows (use the "wireless display" option).

HOWEVER, my main objective is to make use of the TV's 4K resolution, and I think I will have some issues with that.

TL;DR:
So, to sum it up, how can I display my desktop PC on my 4K TV, without running an HDMI cable accross the living room?

PC specs:
- Gigabyte Z97-X gaming 3
- i7-4790K
- Gigabyte GTX 970 G1
- 16GB RAM

TV:
- LG OLED 65B6BV

Edit:
- since I was not clear, I want to USE IT AS DISPLAY. Like if it was a monitor.

that is why I ordered the Wi-Fi card and adapter. The TV already is miracast ready.

However I doubt that the 4K resolution passes without problems. I was looking more for a "cable" solution.

Maybe a way to do [HDMI PC -> ethernet cable -> router/switch -> ethernet cable -> HDMI TV]

is this possible?

Again, I don't want to stream... I want to use it as a display. Like if it was a monitor. You turn on the TV and you get to see windows.

if you are so set on 4K that has very little content out right now then via cable is the only way you will get anything to display in it.

streaming is the only other way

Interesting. It looks like you'll need an "HDMI over IP Extender":

Yes, I was looking for a cable solution.

So what are the alternatives to HDMI? Like I said in the previous post, is this possible?

[HDMI PC -> ethernet cable -> router/switch -> ethernet cable -> HDMI TV]
?

since a TV isn't like a computer that has many types of display ports HDMI is really your only option.

Assuming both pc and tv are on same network. On the lg tv goto "screen share" app which is a default lg app. Rhen assuming your pc is on windows 10 click on the notifications btn on right of task bar (where pops up options like flight mode, wifi, night mode etc). There should be an option to connect...click that and it will scan your network for devices. It should see lg tv...giving you option to connect and bingo your desktop is on tv screen. Obviously if you are going to game over it you will want to be connected vai lan rather than wifi to reduce latency. Cheers
