Hi,
I would appreciate if anyone can help in deciding which monitor I need to go for the gtx 970 g1 gaming(Single card for now).I dunno much about 1440p vs 1080p and my budget is between 200- 300 $.Primarily intended for gaming purposes.Any help in this regard would be much appreciated.

Solution
Asus VG248QE

AOC G2460PG

BenQ XL2720Z (not sure what price)

3 great monitors, 24-27 inch with gaming features like 144hz and gsync

For 1440p I am not sure what is doable in your region.

Ty for the reply. My SPecs are as follows:

Processor : i7 4690k
Graphics Card : Gigabyte g1 gaming gtx 970(Single card)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus Vii hero
Ram : G Skill Ripjaw 16Gb( 2 * 8) 2133 Mhz
PSU : EVGA SuperNOVA 850G2 80PLUS Gold Certified

I mostly play games like COD, BF4, Assasins Creed etc....No Massive MMORPGH or Simulations

To stay on topic...I would go for a 1080p or 1440p display with "Gsync" (matches fps to refresh rate or vice versa) Acer and Asus I think are qgood there.

To go slightly off...have you bought this setup? Or can we still make changes and have your pc perform much better in games?

if it is 4690k it is an i5 btw.

Good display, size and res are almost out of date now though

If he has not bought the parts, we can change some stuff to make it better geared to gaming and use the funds on a better monitor

You have ordered too much Ram. 16gb is not needed unless you work in design or video editing. 8Gb is the norm and more than enough for gaming. So you immediately save money for the monitor.

850watts is FAR too much for that system, it is even too much for dual 970's... You don't need more than 500w and can again save a lot of money there.

Combine both savings and you suddenly have money to buy a much nicer screen.

Yeah if you can help OP re-work the build a 1440p would be better. Size is relative though, 1080p starts to look less optimal on panels bigger than 24". That's why 21"-24" is popular for 1080p and 27"-30" is popular for 1440p.

Ok I might be able to cancel the Ram and PSU....will look for a lower wattage and an 8Gb ram. Will that suffice? Also now if I were to look for a good gaming monitor which one would that be?I can stretch my budget to max 350 - 400 $.Not beyond it

Good idea. Get one of the suggested displays and upgrade when you get the second card

the BenQ model u mentioned is above 400$. I thought Ill get the AOC one and save the rest for a better monitor(1440p) plus another gtx 970.what do u say?

I think it is maybe the wiser choice, if you are intent on upgrading.

You won't be disappointed!

Careful though! Once you go 144Hz, they say you can NEVER go back xD

if I get BenQ then no need to go for 1440p later right?

No, actually that is not 100%

The BenQ is simply 27 inches and overall a killer monitor. However it is still 1080p which is slowly going to be replaced as the standard.

The jump to 1440p is considerable but not that vital.

I think you want to take the AOC or Asus and then go big with the second card as the jump in res to 4k is HUGE and VERY draining compared to 1080p and 1440p even.

I would say, go 1080p now and wait till 4k is cheaper and more widely used and then go big,
