I have my PC connected to a monitor and it is not showing anything. I know the monitor works as I have tested it on another PC. The fans and HDDs spin up but nothing displays. I have tried most things I can think of. I have removed all nonessential compoments. Tried with one stick of ram, tried different slots. I have only found that when I remove the case fan It shows the bios with an error saying "Chassis Fan Removed - error". THen I can plug in the fan and ctrl - alt - delete to boot the PC. But If I turn it off I have to do it again. Any help is appreciated.

Solution
start with a new cmos battery see if the old battery went bad. on newer mb some of them wont post with a weak battery. check on the mb and inside the power supply for any leaking caps. if you dont see any see if a friend has a test power supply. start with a knon good unit.
does the video work if you pull the gpu and use one ram stick?? if not pull the case fans but not the cpu fan make sure the cpu fan plugged into cpu plug on the mb. the case fan error you can go into the bios and set to ignore the error or bypass it. with no case fans if the mb boots every time then one of them is shorted and shorting out the mb.

The computer does not have a graphics cards, just onboard. The computer only boots a few times without the case fan and I have looked through the BIOS and cannot seem to find something to ignore the error.;
