What is the physical Difference between Display port 1.1 v 1.2 v 1.2A

Same port and (usually) same cable, 1.2a just has more features that must (and others that only can) be implemented. If you want to buy a cable, gpu, or monitor, 1.2a will have the best compatibility (forward and backwards)

1.2 comes with higher bandwidth, meaning higher resolution/refresh rate. 1.2A comes with adaptive sync like AMD's FreeSync.
