Display port cable won't do 144hz at 1440p.

Hello,
So I got this new Display Port cable for super cheap because I needed a long one anyways. I tried Switching to a 144hz on 1440p and the screen went on and off and had lines all over it. I switched the cable and used a shorter dp cable that originally came with the monitor and it worked just fine. I think it is a faulty cable but then again, can all dp cables really run 144hz at 1440p?

They all should however in your case it sounds like a defective cable.

Maybe the cable is an older revision of displayport and cant support 144Hz at 1440p?

Only one review. If you want 4K at 144 Hz, then according to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DisplayPort#1.2 you need a DP cable version 1.4. The shorter cable most likely is version 1.4. Your new cable supports 4K resolution, but that probably is at 60 Hz.

No. You already know that because your cheap cable doesn't do it; the Amazon basic cables are not better.
