Hello, so yesterday i upgraded from a HD 6950 2gb to a msi gtx 660ti power edition and i cant get the display port to work. It was working fine on the 6950 but now if i turn the pc on with the DP plugged in and monitor set to DP i only see the bios popup and when windows finishes loading the screen just blacks out and says no DP connection or something like that. It was fine without drivers over DP but now Im stuck on HDMI. Also when i run the pc in safe mode, so no drivers it works fine just the resolution is wierd. My monitor is a AOC aoc g2460vq6 and the reason i want to use DP is because it wont run at 75hz over HDMI. Any help is appreciated.
SOLUTION: plug in 2 cables in your monitor. DP and a HDMI/VGA (what ever works) then in the monitor menu under OSD SETUP switch the DP CAPABILITY to 1.1. Next go to your nvidia control panel and under SET UP MULTIPLE DISPLAYS you should see your monitor twice, DP and the HDMI/VGA(what ever youre using) and switch it to DP and switch your monitor output in the monitor menu to Display port (DP). Thats how i fixed it.
EDIT: this issue is has something to do with the monitor is Freesync and we are using nvidia cards, freesync is supported on DP 1.2 so we are forced to use 1.1, my guess is that nvidia's drivers are somehow blocking or its a bug when using a freesync monitor since its not working..
