Display Port Problems

Hello everyone.. So here`s the deal.. I bought a new GPU (Club3d AMD HD 7870 2GB DDR5 256bit) which has 6 display ports. The problem is my pc monitor has only 1 vga port. I bought a DP to VGA adapter, and it works great when the pc is turned on, but during the boot my pc doesnt receive any signal, meaning I cant boot from usb/cd and thus I can`t install a new system. Is there any solution to this, or do I need to buy a new card which has a vga port, or a new monitor which has hdmi input port ? Could it be that the new UEFI thing is preventing me from booting up a system downloaded from the internet (torrent). Any help is appreciated.

Rather than new monitor/card etc, If you just need display to boot from DVD/USB then try using the onbaord display on the MoBo(if you have one)

I do have an onboard gpu but it appears to be broken.. at least that`s what the repair technician told me..

I think this is the reason why you're not able to output loadscreen/bios (basically anything before the OS loads).
As the bios has an option which says which display to use first where by default its always the onboard GPU.

I am outputting HDMI through my Radeon HD 6770 but I can see all the boot steps on TV because my MoBo (asus p5qe) doesnt have any onboard display.

So if the repair cost is not substantial, then I suggest you repair the onboard port.

@parthtrivedi that`s not the problem. When I insert another gpu with vga output I can boot from cd/usb without any problems.
