Display Port to VGA

I'm trying to get a modern PC to work with an old 1600x1200 VGA monitor. Has anyone had luck connecting video card display port to a VGA monitor? I was thinking of getting this

Or, should I get display port to DVI converter. Then, connect the DVI to an active VGA converter? Which approach stands a better chance of producing a good image? Thanks.

The displayport to vga cable you linked will work and will give the best results. By adding in other adapters you are increasing the chances for problems and the image will still look the same as you are still converting a digital signal to analog just with a different port and adaptor.
