Display problem with 144hz

In december I've bought a 144hz Monitor, specifically an Acer KG271 and recently I have figured out that I have it locked in windows on 60Hz, so I changed it to 144Hz, but since then an issue is accuring when I'm gaming. It's fine for a while, but soon it seems to lock itself on 48Hz whenever my game is under 144fps. When it's above it's fine. Only way I have found out to fix this issue temporarily is to restart the computer. Also alttabbing out and back into the game fixes the issue but only for a few seconds.
I'll be glad if someone can help me, since I'm experiencing this for a few days and can't find seem to be able to fix this.

Right click desktop>display settings>advanced display settings>display adapter properties>monitor>screen refresh rate

Yeah I did that and changed it to 144Hz that's when the problem started...

What type of Cable are you using?

And also, what type of gpu are you using? are you suire it is capable of producing 144fps? cable wise you will need to use a dual link dvi-d, display port, or hdmi 1,4 or higher

Thanks for your help, but I managed to fix it with turning off AMD freesync. Thank you for your time.
