I purchased a new 8gb ram ( 1600 mhz), for my laptop , previously I had the same 8gb 1600mhz ram , since I wanted an upgrade to 16gb.. after installing the new ram , the display goes blank on restart , but with the old one ( which is the same in terms or specifications ) it works fine , I tried to clean the cmos after reading similar posts but didn't work for me . After looking into the ram in detail in saw that the new one was 1333 SO [ O6]while the old one was 1600SO [ wn] ... DOES THAT MAKE some difference ?? Or is there something I need to do? ?
CPU - i3 dual core ( supports 16gb memory)
Ssd 240 gb

Solution
If display is not working, but fans and LEDs are on, it sounds like 'unsupported' memory. Fans come on because the system attempts to post and it's gotta keep the CPU and GPU cool. You are probably getting flashin LEDs, or specific LEDs are coming on to indicate a diagnostic code. Maybe even getting system beeps. The new memory is NOT supported. Wish I had better answer for you, but I've definitely run into this issue many times.

First try cleaning the sticks of ram and make sure the RAM is inserted all the way.

I don't know what you mean about 1600SO [ xx].

That could be making a difference.

Try 1 stick of the new ram and see if it works.

what's your mainboard. the mainboard may or may not support 1333. In some cases it may support 1333, but unlike some boards that will run at lower speeds, it may not worked with specific mixed memory types. Try 1 lone stick of the new memory and see if that has an effect. Also check to see if the original memory was "low Power" [IE: DDR3L, PC3L, etc.] Usually Low power memory will work in systems that don't require low power memory. BUT, if your system requires Low Power memory, and you use memory that is not graded for low power systems, it will not work.
